What is it?
Stax SR-003 MK2 – At HFL we couldn’t be happier to offer Stax headphones, or
Earspeakers as they are better known, to our customers. If you want the best
headphone experience you really do need to hear a Stax system, being an
electrostatic design the level of detail is quite stunning, as is their
agility and musicality. A Stax system really does stand out from the crowd and
is considered by many to offer the pinnacle of what is possible with a
headphone system. We have a selection of Stax systems on demo so please feel
free to come in to HFL to experience something a little different.
This is called in-earspeaker, a tiny electrostatic transducer placed inside
the ear canal, with open back (offering no isolation from the outside world).
The SR-003 can be used either with the headband, that makes the earpieces put
pressure against the ears, quickly getting painful or without the headband, by
pushing the silicon tips (two different sizes) inside the ear canal.
The Stax SR-003 have a unique sound for a lesser Stax headphone. While most of
the ‘cheaper’ Stax are said to have weak bass and bright highs, the SR-003 are
warm and bass oriented headphones.
How does it work?
The SR-003MK2 is a 5-pin PRO bias type in-the-ear earspeaker, and can be used
by connecting to a driver unit having 5-pin PRO bias output socket. The
redesigned ear canal type structure of the SR-003 enables you to enjoy
excellent electrostatic sound quality without covering your ears. The
SR-003MK2 connects to STAX driver units or adapters equipped with 5-pin type
PRO bias output.
